Yukiyoshi Yamano,

Mayor of Kanazawa

Yukiyoshi Yamano

Junior Chamber International Kanazawa is always dealing with new challenges to create the city's new attraction with their youthful passion. I appreciate that they have contributed to the development of the city as the leader of a local community and I am also proud of them as one of the graduates of JCI Kanazawa.

On March 14, 2015, the Hokuriku Shinkansen, which Kanazawa City had been longing for, was opened at last. I would like to take advantage of this opportunity and proceed with the realization of this city's symbolic image 'Kanazawa: City of Global Interaction Base.' This year is regarded as 'the first year of our promoting City of Global Interaction Base' and we are now devoting all our effort to steadily implement our intensive strategic plan. To make it happen, we need cooperation from citizens, corporations and the community as well as the government.

In the modern world where you need to think globally and act locally or 'glocally,' the activity of those who see the world living in the local community is becoming more and more important. I really hope that the members of JCI Kanazawa would continuously play an active role in sharing new culture and would help Kanazawa to realize City of Global Interaction Base through community development.

Along with the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen, there will be more people interacting with each other not only in Kanazawa but also throughout Ishikawa Prefecture and that would bring about economic effects in various fields. Different events are scheduled this year in Kanazawa including international conferences inviting many people from home and abroad such as UNESCO Creative Cities Network Conference and Kanazawa Marathon. Moreover, the 2015 JCI World Congress Kanazawa is held in November. I expect that JCI Kanazawa and everyone involved lead the congress to a successful one together and that our city will be more appealing to the world.

In conclusion, I wish JCI Kanazawa and its members continued happiness, good health and the success of the 2015 JCI World Congress Kanazawa.
